3. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:
Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — You give explicit consent via the GDPR checkbox on our form before submitting. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us (see Section 8).
Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — For internal analytics (UTM tracking) to understand how visitors find us, where this does not override your privacy rights.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use your data exclusively for the following purposes:
Passing your enquiry to one or more MCS-certified solar installation companies who will contact you with a personalised quote
Storing your submission in our internal records (Google Sheets) for quality assurance and compliance
Improving our service through anonymised internal analytics
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5. Who We Share Your Data With
Your personal data is shared with:
MCS-certified solar installers — the companies that will contact you with quotes. We only work with businesses that hold current MCS accreditation and agree to handle your data in compliance with UK GDPR.
Google LLC — your data is stored in Google Sheets (a Google service). Google acts as a data processor under a Data Processing Agreement. Data may be processed in the EEA or USA under Standard Contractual Clauses.
Our CRM / webhook provider — used to route your enquiry to the relevant installer. Operates under a Data Processing Agreement.
Meta Platforms, Inc. — if you consent to non-essential cookies, the Meta Pixel sends page visit and conversion data to Meta for advertising measurement purposes. This data may be processed in the USA under Standard Contractual Clauses. See Meta's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not share your data with data brokers.
6. Data retention
We retain your personal data for a maximum of 24 months from the date of submission, unless you request earlier deletion. After this period, data is permanently deleted from our systems.
Installers who receive your enquiry may retain your data under their own privacy policies. We recommend reviewing those policies directly.
7. Cookies and tracking
Our website uses the following:
sessionStorage — to preserve UTM parameters (advertising source data) during your visit. This is cleared automatically when you close your browser tab. This is strictly necessary for our service and does not require consent.
Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's servers. Google may log your IP address as part of this request. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Maps / Places API — used for address autocomplete. Google may log your IP address and the address typed. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Meta (Facebook) Pixel — used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. This pixel is only loaded if you give explicit consent via our cookie banner. When active, Meta may set cookies (_fbp, _fbc) and receive data about your visit. See Meta's Privacy Policy.
Non-essential tracking (Meta Pixel) is only activated with your explicit consent, in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage and revisiting the site.
For full details, see our Cookie Policy.
